Projects must adhere to the following requirements:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Design Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bulletted\">\n<li>each student\u00a0must produce one\u00a0stool<\/li>\n<li>the piece of furniture\u00a0must\u00a0be made entirely from one 30\u2033 x 30\u2033\u00a0sheet of 1\/2\u201d thick baltic birch plywood<\/li>\n<li>the stool may have no more than 10 parts<\/li>\n<li>the stool should be designed for sitting &#8211; consider structure and comfort accordingly<\/li>\n<li>no fasteners or adhesives of any kind are allowed, nor are any \u201cforeign\u201d parts, pieces, or materials \u2013 all parts and components will be cut on the CNC machine from the\u00a0single 30\u2033 x 30\u2033\u00a0sheet<\/li>\n<li>projects will be evaluated for style and creativity, but first and foremost they will be expected to have\u00a0structural integrity and sensitivity to the material and production process<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Production Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"bulletted\">\n<li>projects will be cut on the CNC router\u00a0using only\u00a0curve-driven cuts<\/li>\n<li>1.5 hours of time on the machine will be allotted per student (this includes set-up and clean up)<\/li>\n<li>only 1 tool (bit) will be used \u2013 a 15\/32\u201d flat\u00a0ended bit (consider the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Saw#Terminology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kerf<\/a>\u00a0this tool will produce)<\/li>\n<li>plywood sheets\u00a0will be secured to the machine bed by vacuum, but small parts will require tabs.
